Jackman Street Park
Client: Hackney Council
Budget: £65,000
Date: 2008
Consulting with local residents and The Learning Trust, the park was designed to introduce new naturalistic play facilities. New pieces of equipment, mounding and planting was introduced and existing mounding at the underused end of the park was re-shaped.
A large fallen tree was sourced and installed in position to utilise a neglected section of the space and boulders were installed as stepping stones and balancing challenges. After discussion about maintenance issues with Hackney parks department it was agreed that an open sand pit area could be incorporated. This extends the age range catered for and provides valuable free play experiences. A single point tyre swing provides a focal point for the site and provides challenging play with opportunities for a wide range of ages and abilities.
